Many of us have varying skin tones and hair across our body, which is why we have trained our practitioners to the highest level, to allow them to select the most accurate settings for you. Unlike other clinics in the UK we conduct regular treatment reviews to make sure the settings are still on track as your hair changes colour and density.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal uses an intense beam of light that selectively destroys the hair follicles by targeting the melanin (colour) in the hair and thereby eliminating the root and blood flow to the hair at the base of the hair follicle.

The Alexandrite and Nd:Yag lasers are damaging the follicle enough to reduce hair regrowth significantly; whilst leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. During the treatment, you will feel a slight, hot pricking sensation in the treated area; this is the heat hitting the hair root and destroying the blood flow feeding the root.

Hair in the Anaphase of the hair growth cycle will be killed permanently at each session, which equates to around 10% of your hair! This is because it is attached to the root at the time of the treatment. Don’t worry the rest of the hair will still be damaged and fall out within 2 weeks, leaving you hair free between your treatments! The damaged hair that grows back will be lighter and finer than before, reducing the chance of ingrown hairs.

Our state-of-the-art cooling system, which is attached to the laser, blows cold air throughout the treatment to make your experience more comfortable. Following your treatment, there may be slight redness and little bumps for a few hours, you will be provided with cooling aloe vera gel to apply and you can keep applying this at home.

Laser Hair Removal Consultation

Before starting your laser hair removal journey, we will conduct a free consultation with one of our experienced and highly trained consultants. During the consultation, the consultant will explain the process to you and decide which laser will be used. They will test the appropriate settings on each area and answer any questions or concerns you may have. They will also tailor your treatment plan and help you decide the best time to start your journey based on any tan you may already have or future holidays you may need your consultant to work around.

The skin test will ensure you are suitable for laser hair removal (95% are eligible) as well as give you an idea of how the treatment will feel. The laser consultant will then advise you on the best course of treatments to achieve your goal. We typically recommend 8 sessions if you are new to laser hair removal.The body sessions will initially be every 6-8 weeks and the face every 3-4 weeks. Thankfully once you reach maintenance sessions your treatments will be a lot more sporadic, this makes tanning less of an issue! Our FAQs section below covers many of the aspects covered in the consultation. Following the consultation, if you choose to go ahead, you can start the treatment from as early as 48 hours later.

Following a laser hair removal treatment

The skin may be red immediately after the treatment, and the hair follicles where the skin has been treated may be raised and bumpy, this usually subsides within a few hours but can take up to 48 hours for some clients. Very few people experience itching a few days later as the hair is pushed out, antihistamines and steroid cream, as well as keeping the skin cool can easily alleviate this.

Following a laser hair removal treatment, the hair growth slows considerably. It usually takes 2-3 weeks, at which point the dead hair will fall out. Leaving you hair free until just before your next appointment! New hair follicles will then grow, which are finer and more manageable. After the second laser treatment, depending on skin and hair type, the area can already begin to look patchy as certain hair follicles empty. After 4-6 treatments, the hair should be significantly reduced, and after eight sessions, we can achieve up to 80% reduction on coarse hair; results may vary from person to person.

Laser hair removal is the most effective method for achieving permanent reduction. After 6-8 sessions, you can achieve up to a 80% reduction. Compared to a lifetime of shaving or waxing, laser hair removal is an investment and more economical in the long run.

The laser is also extremely effective at treating ingrown hairs. After 2-4 sessions, you will notice a significant, if not complete, removal of ingrown hairs. The bumps, redness and skin pigmentation caused by ingrown hairs will also clear up, leaving the skin clearer, brighter and smoother.
